Dr Lillian Lasaten-Ebuen completed her Doctor of Dentistry degree at the Manila Central University in 1988. Upon leaving university, she quickly established her practice and soon became a prominent figure in Philippine dentistry.

She is an active member of a number of dental organizations and specialty dental groups and as well as a member of various dental organization committees. She is also a member of the council of Past Presidents of the Quezon City Dental Chapter and Philippine Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (PAED), and serves as well as a member of the Philippine Dental Association’s (PDA) pool of lecturers from 1997 to the present.

Dr Ebuen has held several noteworthy positions, including serving on the Council of Presidents of the Quezon City Dental Association, President of Quezon City Dental Chapter from 2001 to 2002, President of the Philippine Academy of Esthetic Dentistry from 2006 to 2008 as well as Vice President for the Philippine Dental Association in 2005 and served on the Board of Trustees from 2004 to 2005, and again from 2014 to 216.

In between her practice and civic duties, Dr Ebuen furthered her education and in 2011, received her post-graduate Esthetic Continuum at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She continues to keep her dental expertise up to date with the latest dental research through training and workshops. Her latest training on ozone therapy, zirconium implants, fundamentals of Occlusal Equilibration and latest laboratory techniques in Esthetic Dentistry ensures a modern approach to clinical applications.

Dr Ebuen is also a passionate advocate of Mercury-Free Dentistry since 1996. In 2009, after passing the requirements and qualifications of her certificate training with the International Academy of Oral Medicine (IAOMT) in North America, she was recognized as the only Filipino dentist accredited member of the IAOMT North America. Working on her advocacy to moving the Philippines toward mercury free dentistry, she founded its Philippine chapter, the International Association of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT-Phils). Since then, Dr. Ebuen has been visible in the local and international arena as the only Filipino dentist representing Philippine dentistry for the United Nations Mercury Inter-Government Negotiations Committee Meetings, which calls to put an end to the use of mercury in the dental sector.

She is a consultant and a member of the Technical Working Group with government agencies such as the Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in formulating policy changes on mercury and mercury waste management for the DENR and revisions of Administrative Order 21 of the DOH on the phasing out the use of dental amalgam. Contributing her proficiency on the subject, she has participated in research studies and consultation meetings on the Minamata Convention on Mercury with the United Nations since 2011.

Dr. Ebuen encourages a strong dental health program and avidly organizes dental outreach programs to reduce caries prevalence in the country. She maintains a comprehensive dental outreach program and educates depressed communities and indigenous people to good oral hygiene to avoid caries prevalence.

Currently, she is the Founder and President of IAOMT-Philippines, Founder of CORE – Center for Osseointegration, Rehabilitation for Esthetics and the founder and President of Biomimetic Dentistry Philippines, Inc.

Dr. Ebuen always ends her oral health lecture to communities with this statement: “Healthy teeth, healthy body, no mercury.”
