Dr. Torres started in dentistry as a dental technician for the Manese Dental Laboratory where he worked from 1978 to 1987. He graduated from the College of Dentistry of De Ocampo Memorial College (DOMC), bestowed with the Clinical Efficiency and Leadership Awards.

He joined DOMC’s College of Dentistry and taught there for two decades, from 1988 to 2008. He became its Acting Vice Dean from 2007 to 2008. He also held the position of Executive Adviser to the Philippine Dental Students Association (PDSA) Executive Board from 1998 to 2003 and President of the Manila Dental Society from 1998 to 1999.

He has been actively involved with the Philippine Dental Association (PDA) in various capacities: Member of the PDA Speakers’ Bureau, Member of the PDA Forensic Team, Coordinator of PDA-NCR South from 2003 to 2004, Member of the PDA Board of Trustees from 2007 to 2010 and from 2014 to 2016 and Member of the PDA-HMO Health Care Program from 2007 to 2011 (four terms).

His other affiliations include being a Fellow of the International College of Dentists (ICD), Academy of Dentistry International (ADI) and the Pierre Fauchard Academy (PFA).

His civic involvement consists of the Quezon City Kababayan Lions’ Club, serving as President for two terms from 1993-1995, Manila Chinatown Lions’ Club where is the incumbent Secretary, Knights of Columbus (Council No. 8210, Minor Basilica and National Shrine of San Lorenzo Ruiz, Binondo, Manila) where he served as Grand Knight for three terms from 2000 to 2011, Knights of Columbus (District M-43) where he served as former District Deputy, Luzon South Jurisdiction and Knights of Columbus, Jaime Cardinal Sin Assembly, where he served as Faithful Navigator.

He served as the 5th President of the Philippine Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (PAED).
