After graduating from Centro Escolar University, Manila, Dr. Virgilio M. Vasquez did not stop from his quest for knowledge, thus, actively participated in continuing dental education. He made sure that he updates himself in the different fields of Dentistry and attended workshops to hone his skills. With this endeavor he became a member of various PDA specialty groups, and with trainings in Esthetic Dentistry and Occlusion (Orofacial Pain, TMJ Dysfunction, and Functional Occlusion) but focused his attention to the Philippine Academy of Esthetic Dentistry. He took The UCLA Aesthetic Continuum Levels 1 and 2, 2009 and 2011 respectively and part of this program is the Advanced Endodontic Lecture and Workshop. He also went to Nepal for the MiCD TMJ Harmony, a mini-residency program in 2012, Taipei, Taiwan for the Practical Periodontal Surgery Series I and II, a lecture and workshop on Perio Esthetics in 2018, Orlando Florida for the Laser Dentistry Conference in 2018 and Root to Crown training in Switzerland in 2019 and attended other trainings and workshops locally.

Dr. Virgilio M. Vasquez started with PAED as a student, PAED Esthetic 101 Batch 2 in 2002, and became an active member since then. He became the 11th President of the Academy from 2015-2017. Seeing the need for more improvement on PAED’s curriculum he created two summits to improve the quality of lectures, improve on PAED Esthetic 101 workshops, and strengthen PAED Constitution and By-Laws. Pursuing the advocacy of continuing quality education, Dr. Vasquez strengthened the PAED Esthetic 101 course with trainings to ensure that lecturers and facilitators were better equipped to guide students more effectively, ‘Training for Trainers”. This is a brief intensive educational program that focuses on techniques and skills. More courses were conducted under his term, four in NCR, and eight in the provinces. Twice in Davao, Cebu and Baguio and one each in Iloilo and Laguna. Another batch of PAED members benefited from the PAED-UCLA Esthetic Continuum Program Level 1 in 2017.

Dr. Vasquez received the PDA Professional Development Award in 2016.

Other initiatives by Dr. Vasquez included Lakbay Aral in South Africa (Johannesburg and Cape Town with a side trip to Zambia), sports and social events, which saw PAED winning the 2016 PDA Sports Fest Champion (Affiliate Category), and the National Dental Health Month Alay Parada most colorful award, paved for the working grounds for the PRC CPD Accreditation, and authentication of PAED Esthetic 101 Certificates and PAED Membership Certificate. Dr. Vasquez administration marked by a bounty of CSR (corporate social responsibility) initiatives, that encouraged PAED Officers and members to help through volunteer services and cash or in kind. His primary goal is to reach out the far-flung deserving areas where much-needed help is an importance. Outreach excursions were conducted in various areas throughout Luzon such as Basco in Batanes, Infanta and Nakar in Quezon, Quisao and Pililia in Rizal, Sagada and Benguet in Mountain Province and Tarlac. The range of activities included mangrove planting and shoreline clean up, school-based oral health education (tooth brushing drill, fluoride application, hand washing drill, information dissemination through Oral health and Handwashing Laminated Guides, and Environmental storytelling.

He is a Member PDA and served the Association as Continuing Dental Education C0-Chair 2018, Continuing Professional Development Co-Chair in the PDA 109th PDA Annual Convention and APDC Congress 92018) and 110th PDA National Convention (2019) and presently as the Continuing Dental Education Chair for 2019-2020. He is also a member of PDA Speakers’ Bureau where he lectures to different Chapters, Affiliates, as well as Regional and Area Conventions, and PDA Annual Conventions.

Currently, he is a Key Opinion Leader of Dentsply Sirona on Restorative Materials where he gives lectures, demonstrations, and evaluates participants to Dentsply Sirona Global Clinical Case Contest.

Presently, he is the Head of the Dental Medicine Department of Grace General Hospital, an affiliate of the Mount Grace Hospital, in San Jose Del Monte Bulacan and actively has his private/group practice in Cainta Rizal and Mandaluyong City.
